記憶差要背單字？ 看過來

英文單字真的是超多，背又辛苦。。

我手邊有一個兩千多字的英文單字串，是我從不同的書跟電視劇常年搜集下來的。目前這串字還在不斷地增加當中 （背的速度也相當緩慢）。所以就算妳 / 你已俱備用基礎與深度對談的英語能力，也建議要不斷的精進它。

因為年紀大了，記憶力不比當年。發現很多當年的背招，現下都已經沒用了。加上現在又不在英語環境下生活，所以勢必要用其他的方式保持我的流暢性。於是發現，僅用單一背單字方式的效率是很差的。

或許這是個人年紀大腦袋鈍的關係，  如果你天資聰穎當然可以不理會。但大部份的人對於英文應該興趣都不高。所以不管你目前仰賴增加單字的方式是什麼，建議你增加幾個其他的方式來交叉使用。

我以前背單字有這些方法：

• 單字卡
• 連想法（圖像記憶法，故事記憶法）

這些方法都有自身的盲點，我不能說他們沒用，但：

1. 單字背到後來沒有去用就會忘記。
2. 記憶法則是要跟隨你的程度作調整的。比方說電視重播一萬次的733 圖像記憶法來說，用單字的發音來編造一個有趣的故事來幫助記憶。這概念本身沒錯，但這僅侷限於非常短的單字。比方說兩個至三個音以內的單字，如Knee, Parent 這類較基礎的單字。懷疑嗎？那：

Antagonism 這字麻煩幫我編個故事來右腦簡易一下。。。

不是說他們沒用（或沒辦法做到），它的用處是在初期的時候，等你越來越進步後，這個習慣可能反會拖累你。如果以上這個單字要圖像或故事化的話，那我建議你直接背起來，因為背它要花的功力遠比你在那邊掰故事少得多，而你要是真掰的出來，恭喜你，你的唬爛功力已經是世界頂尖，英文也不是這麼重要了！

這裡都還不談片語，俚語 vs 連想法。我相信一定有人一樣可以連想，只是連我這麼愛唬爛的都嫌累的時候，我相信一般人光看到字就倒了。。。

所以什麼七秒一個單字，一個月可以背數千個的這種1+1數學還是聽聽就好吧。分享一下我現在找/背單字的方式：

1. 電影/電視劇
2. 爬論壇
3. 找外國人聊天
4. 單字書
5. 聽歌

而背的方式有:

1. 把電影轉語音檔聽
2. 再寫英文 email 的時候，某期間故意拼命用幾個生字
3. 聽歌
4. 單字卡
5. 跟外國人哈拉

之前有介紹過用看電視劇來幫助教學的方法，想在這裡做個更直接的例子。

比方說，以下這個影片（軍官與魔鬼）是我非常喜歡的電影，其中這段 "You can't handle the truth" 更是電影台詞中的經典。

Kaffee: *Colonel Jessep, did you order the Code Red?*

Judge Randolph: You *don't* have to answer that question!

Col. Jessep: I'll answer the question!

Col. Jessep: You want answers?

Kaffee: I think I'm entitled to.

Col. Jessep: *You want answers?*

Kaffee: *I want the truth!*

Col. Jessep: *You can't handle the truth!*

[pauses]

Col. Jessep: Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. 這一長串裡面應該有很多單字是第一次接觸的，但沒有關係。把這些生字查一查之後，再看幾次。保證未來你在用這些單字的時候，都會想到影帝傑克尼柯遜的精湛演技。。。我是說，在教你英文。

而且除了記得之外，還會知道怎麼樣使用，搞不好使用的時候還會異常的激動。。。






所以找一齣你喜歡的電影或電視劇，試試看如法炮製。


總之，不管你怎麼樣背單字，背單字一定要有好幾種方式。因為一定會有“某些單字”是我們怎麼樣都記不起來的，這時候就是把他從方法Ａ，帶到方法Ｂ，或到方法Ｃ等。不管是單字卡，還是連想法，還是靠影片等，都一定要交叉使用。沒有任何一招是適用全部的。所以快準備幾個清單，準備開始吧！
